Species of Tube Traveller #6 - The Reacher

One of the rarer species found in carriages of the London Underground, The Reacher enjoys displaying its unusually long arms for everyone to see. Rather than hold onto a bar that is nearer, they like to extend themselves to the furthest grips to steady themselves, making sure that it is in the faces of as many people as possible. What makes this species unique is that it can only be found in the carriages, whereas Snails, Bulldozers and Biohazards reside in all areas of the Underground.

The Reacher

What makes The Reacher such an evasive creature is that their arms retract after exiting the carriage, making them impossible to identify outside of the train. Researchers have suggested that the purpose of the reach is not to steady themselves, but to increase their surface area for respiratory purposes. Another hypothesis is that they like to expose themselves to others as much as possible in an effort to find a mate. If you come into contact with a Reacher and find yourself with an arm inches from your face, please resist the urge to bite as they have been known to react negatively. Maybe it is their genitalia.
